#grievance During the last many months the Suburban Fast trains from Borivali to Churchgate takes 75 to 85 minutes in the morning hours against its schedule time of 55 minutes, thereby wasting many precious working hours. The Commuters are unable to reach their Offices in time. The Western Railways do not bother to adhere its Timetable of the Suburban trains in the morning Hours. Due to the delay in running of trains, the Commuters are getting irritated and become impatient. Please ensure that the Suburban Fast trains from Borivali should reach Churchgate within 1 Hour.

Details : : Issues raised in your above quoted letter have been examined and position is as under:- In the existing schedule there are 20 fast trains from Borivali during the morning peak hours. All these fast services follow a particular halt pattern of running. i.e stopping at all stations up to Andheri and further running fast between Andheri -Bandra Dadar-Mumbai central and then slow up to Churchgate. In general the running time given to these trains varies between 55-60 minutes depending upon the availability of berthing facility at Churchgate. In comparison the services have been increased from 1043 in 2007 to 1305 till date. Similarly 12 car services have been increased from 511 to 1165 along with introduction of 15 car services. There are 30-15 car services at present. The increase in services and augmentation has reduced the buffer margins earlier available needed to stabilise services in case of unusual incidences. The services are generally delayed due to effect of rampant alarm chain

though the points pertaining to increase in services is correct but the introduction of 25000 volts AC rakes which have improved pick up capacity should have offset the congestion due to increase in frequency. The same logic was given while increasing the services. The rampant alarm chain inicidence part is totally false. I personally travel daily on this route and can vouch that there is no chain pulling during peak hours on WR.
IR is trying to cover up its failure to improve the infrastructure i.e increase in lines.
second issue is the

crossover of trains at goregaon/andheri/santacruz/bandra of these fast locals which lead to congestion. WR should make a plan to for an elevated stretch meant only for crossovers at andheri. Only this can improve the punctuality of locals.
One thing is for sure that travelling on WR during peak hours is the most frustating activity one may find in mumbai if he is a daily commuter.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
