Passengers who got the green light and are on the train from the beginning and got their seats have to jump in at the very first station and cozy up in their berths. Back in the day, the TTE used to hold off for a station or two on a kind-hearted basis, but now they gotta give the berth to the RAC rider if the original person doesn't show up after the train sets off. The rail gang put these new rules in place coz folks were messing around with their berth privileges. The new deal is that the TTE needs to snoop around the coach as soon as the train starts moving and update the charts every minute. If the confirmed passenger is a no-show, they gotta offer the berth to the RAC rider in that coach. With the crazy surge in waitlisted passengers, folks have been exploiting the system, having the waiting riders go up to the next station. RAC and WL folks are trying their luck with the TTE to snag a seat. The railway peeps have laid down these rules to make sure they are followed diligently and Rac peeps get their seats on time with no messing about.
