About 157 years ago the first passenger train ran in India between Bori Bunder in Bombay and Thane. On the 16th of April, 1853 in a 14 carriage long train drawn by 3 locomotives named Sultan, Sindh and Sahib. It was around 21 miles in length and took approximately 45 minutes. Ever since the first run the Indian Railways have been a booming industry. Today as we celebrate it's first run let us remember the efforts put in by the people of our country to make the railways a successful one.
