train continues on its own momentum when LPs don't hit the breaks.
It happens here in Mumbai when trains have to switch from DC to AC current or vice versa. LPs bring the speed down to required limit and simply let the train continue its momentum before they switch on the appropriate panto and continue further....something similar must have happened in this case, when some snag was developed in loco, signal was clear so LPs brought down the panto and let the train continue its own momentum till it stopped...
