It was an event-less journey for the 70106 Mangalore-Madgaon DEMU and its Six hundred odd passengers until the train was looped at Bhatkal station. The 56641 Madgaon-Mangalore Passenger which was waiting at the station departed as soon as the DEMU arrived and a dog which was loitering on the platform jumped onto the tracks probably in search of food. After a while, it was apparent that the 12432 Nizamuddin-Trivandrum Rajdhani Express would be crossing us at Bhatkal as well and all were expecting a high-speed fly-by. But the Mangalore Passenger hadn't yet cleared the block section and thus the Rajdhani was taken into the loopline platform which had just then been vacated by the Passenger train. ducked under the train and as soon as the obstructive Locomotive passed over, started walking along the platform and came out at the other end of the train. People were delighted and flabbergasted alike after having witnessed something very very shocking happen right in front of their eyes. Animal runovers are common on the Konkan Railway and this was definitely something that nobody had anticipated.
