As per today's Mathrubhumi News Report, PGTN-POY line is getting ready to be opened in March this year.
This report also says, the freight trains from MAQ towards TN and MDU and the passenger trains towards Mumbai from Central and Southern Tamil Nadu will be re-routed through this new line, towards MAQ and via Konkan Railway, which could result in reduction in distance and travel time.
