The RO-RO model in USA. As the trucks will have trailers attached and the engine of the trucks always can be seperated, the trailers are up lifted using cranes and places on the flat bed
wagons for transportation. At the destinations, the trailers are attached to some other truck engine bodies and transported by road to the final destinations. Video captured on board Amtrak service 49 lake shore limited to Chicago from New York.

Yeah.. There all on road freight would be as container trailers ... but with soft walls. and wheels...
