Is photograhy and video recording prohibited on IR premise and trains? Whenever, someone tries taking photos or take a video shoot, anybody remotrly connected with Railways will start chasing them away, as if the person is recording some classified document. RPF personnel, are the worst of the lot. One can be thankful, if not physically assaulted for taking videos. As far as I know, railway stations and trains are not classified as sensitive installations like a Nuclear Powerstation. Even, on the airports there is no restrictions on taking photos, except of course Airforce Bases like Bhuj or Pune.
Can someone please shed some light on thus?

I would rather say it doesn't relate to personal rights and freedom, rather concerns safety and security. Not only Railways, photography is not allowed at many other places like Water dams, Airports (partial premise) or some sensitive places which could be easy target for the violence. :)

Photography/video recording of trains at railway station or tracks is not allowed. Terriorists often make railway trains or railway stations there target that's why it strictly followed in some busy stations. RPF might catch you and may ask you to delete the pics or else fine you as per rules. If you wish to click photos you can take official permission letter from CPRO of the said division or else you can click photos at some small stations.

When people, read Railfans, act like some big shot press photographers, then they get caught by RPF and other station staff. If you act like a novice hobbyist who doesn't mean any harm to the railway property and behave appropriately, no one will interfere and question you. Railfans need to use some commonsense. That's all. :)

With all due respect, yes in olden days, photography at sensitive locations was prohibited. I am an Airline professional, working in the airport since 1992. Yes, taking snaps was not allowed then. But, all such restrictions have now been removed. Especially, after Google Earth was available. Any layout is there for everyone to see. This is so absurd rule which disallows taking photos.
Just like Rail Radar. How absurd can the government get? There are Apps like Flight Track Radar. Which gives any user the exact location of any aircraft flying anywhere in the world. That too with Speed, Time to Arrival, Altitude, Descend/Climb rate. I believe that International Air Transport is a far more vital information to miscreants then our

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
