Sir u have travelled in both Shaktipunj & Shipra. Which one according to u have comparitively better catering facilities ?. Especially about the CIC king when is the catering available & how is the food quality ?
In Shaktipunj, you will not be catered with lunch either of the day. Last hope for a proper dinner is at Dhanbad where Comesum vendors take orders after Durgapur. If not ordered that time, then also not a very big deal as they carry Fried rice (veg and non veg both) as a supplement. If you also miss that then you should rely on local cuisines like Litti chokha, Idli sambhar, Jhaalmuri, chana masala sold by numerous local vendors. In Day 2, snacks are only available at major stations like Chopan, Singrauli, Beohari and Katni South. You will only get cucumber and chana masala followed by tea on board.

Yes sir but though Shipra wins in Journey time , it hardly remains punctual especially in down direction to Kolkata .Last time i travelled by this train it reached HWH late by approx 3 hrs but talking about Shaktipunj be it the credit of slack timings or clearence it remains punctual most of the time to Kolkata. Even Imperial Mail also cannot be trusted as it remains late or cancelled . I think currently the journey time is more or less same for all trains in reality & for more faster & smooth journey there should be a dedicated train to Kolkata via Bilaspur.
Via BSP, a Superfast can cover this distance in 19 hrs and in addition their will be no issues with punctuality. This train will be far way better than Mail as well as Shaktipunj
