The progression of train numbers for Chennai - Howrah Mail was in this order : 4(original)/6004(when resvn was computerised) / 2604(following promotion to SF status)/2840(following transfer of control from SR to SER)/12840(after 5-digit numbering)
1)6003/6004 Dep from MAS @ 22:30.
2)Got SF status it was 2603/2604 was SR train, started from MAS @ 23:00 if i am right.
3)2839/2840 used to dep MAS @ 23:30 (trf to SER)
4)12839/12840 Dep MAS @ 23:40.
