I had recently been to Kasara for an early morning RF session and here are some tips based on my personal experience.

1. Cleanliness: I had been there early in the morning and the condition of platforms were pathetic. There was garbage all around the platform and tracks. I returned at 12 noon and till that time, no cleaning was taken up. I had taken home cooked food which I couldn't have as I did not find a single place on the platform to be clean where I could have my food.

2. Food: There is a huge crowd of vendors who sell vada pavs, Mineral Water, Cold Drinks, etc. I didn't taste the food and hence can't comment on that.

3. Taxis to Igatpuri and Nasik: Share taxis to Igatpuri and Nasik are available at the exit on the eastern side of the platfrom, i.e towards PF#4. The charges from Kasara to Igatpuri and Nasik are 40rs per person and 70rs per person respectively. They take 13 people on board in a normal jeep and 15 people in a Maxx jeep. In return from Nasik, the charges are 80rs per person.
Taxis are also available to Ghoti and various other destinations.

4. Public transport: There is an MSRTC bus stand at about 200 metres away from the taxi stand. Buses are available to various destinations from this stop. An ST bus to Nasik was parked here.

5. Railfanning: 'AC heaven' is what you can call this place. Bankers are attached at this station and hence all the trains going in the down direction have a stop here. The scenic Thull ghat section starts after this station and therefore it is quite scenic. There is a separate resting cabin for the ghat drivers and hence you can even speak to the ghat LP's.
