Agreed. Yes Tata-Madras is right. Two trains viz. Howrah-Madras and Tata-Waltair were withdrawn and one train, Tata-Madras on this route was introduced and gradually Tata's importance was diluted with the main portion first extended to Hatia, then to BKSC and now Dhanbad. Tata portion has in literary terms become a slip. We celebrated when AC coaches were attached. FC was the upper class for ages. However this train catered to major industries of Tata, Hatia, Rourkela especially travelling public of Andhra Pradesh. Another interesting fact is, till the early 90s this train was made to crawl at snail's pace on the open old Godavari Bridge while Coromondel and Mail passed over the second new bridge at considerable speed. Now I understand the new one is a high speed bridge. Very interesting discussion on this blog. Thanks for sharing the link.
