CST Kasara train. So 12.15 am CST-Kasara train will reach Kasara at 02.56 am instead of 03.06 am
* With addition of 5 more services, total no. of CR services a day has now risen to 1212. CR is now running more suburban services than any other system in the world, it is believed!
* On Sunday, all 9 AC/DC locals of CR will be out, having tested mechanically/electrically at Kalwa carshed to run at 100 kmph
* Distances between stations beyond Kalyan are longer, avg of about 5 km, making it possible for trains to attain top speed. CR officials from the operations, signalling, electrical and mechanical engineering departments have worked hard for last 3-4 months to make a success of Mission 100 kmph. Their work mainly involved tweaking mechanical and electrical systems of trains enabling them to attain higher speeds and strengthening tracks
* WHEN HISTORY WAS MADE - At around 12:19 pm on Dec 7, 2005, CST-Kasara local ran at a top speed of 100 kmph between Kalyan and Kasara. The AC/DC train, brought in from WR for trial, had been modified previous day at Kalwa carshed. All local trains are configured that if train goes above 80 kmph, warning is sounded in motorman's cabin. At 85 kmph, service brakes are applied that slow down train. If it still speeds and touches 90 kmph, emergency brakes are applied using magnetic sensors fitted in tracks
* Tweaking ensured that train touched 100 kmph without triggering any of these emergency measures
