Grievance Description:
This grievance is regarding diversion of several express trains via newly constructed and under electrification Badnera-New Amravati-Narkher line on Central Railway. This line commenced after almost 20 years from its conception. The importance of this line is repeatedly proved on several occasions of major accidents and disruptions on Central and West Central Railway. However, this line is not being fully utilized to its capacity. It is a high time that railways should consider using this line for passenger traffic, reduce load on its parallel and important lines and use its infrastructure combined with revenues and passenger facilities. For this purpose, several express trains are recommended to divert via this line. These are, (1) 12405/6 Gondwana SF Exp. This train can easily be diverted between BD-NRKR as there are many options available from NGP-Delhi. Thus, this train do not need to pass through Nagpur. Also, diversion of this train saves a distance of 128 km and 3 hrs. (2) 12159/60 AMI JBP AMI SF Exp. This daily train may/may not need to pass through NGP as it was originally destined for NGP and carry a lot of patients to NGP. Still, it can be considered as savings would be of 128 km and 3 hrs. But, construction of cord line between Amravati and New Amravati should be undertaken before this service. The following trains, 12719/20 AII HYB AII SF Exp, 12421/2 NED ASR NED SF Exp, 12485/6 NED SGNR NED SF Exp and 22457/8 NED UHL NED SF Exp strongly need a diversion between Akola-Itarsi for following reasons: 1) The load on AK-BSL-ET route is heavy. (2) These trains are destined to reach pilgrim cities, so no issue of passengers of intermediate stations. (3) All these train halt at a single or a couple of stations between Akola and Itarsi. So, no issues of skipping major stations. (4) Diversion of these trains via BD-NAVI-NRKR will add a major city, Amravati, to its route which helps to increase revenues for these trains. Amravati is one of the major centers in Maharashtra and second largest in Vidarbha. As all of these are weekly or biweekly trains, there are no chances of congestion on proposed route. (5) Further, both the existing and proposed routes takes almost equal time and distance. So, no major reform of schedule is needed. I request railways to bring this issue to notice of concerned railway zone and implement the suggestions. Further, electrification of BD-NAVI-NRKR is strongly suggested and requested.
