The Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, the first of its kind in India has hit its first roadblock. And that too from a 'friend', the Maharashtra government.
YouTube/ Representative Image The Devendra Fadnavis government has opposed the railways constructing one of the most crucial links in the corridor- the Mumbai station. The government raised objection to the proposed underground station at Bandra-Kurla complex claiming that the station would hamper its plans to build a financial centre at the same place, The Indian Express has reported.

a Japanese company who is the consultant in the project after speaking with state government.  Maharashtra government has reportedly  told Railways that the station, which will come  at the expense of the financial centre will lead to a revenue loss of Rs 10,000 crore for the state. Despite the railway authorities telling that the proximity of the bullet train corridor will only enhance the potential of the financial centre the state government remains unconvinced.
Mumbaimag The government has also pointed out that only a small portion of the Rs 98,000-crore bullet train project passes through the state and such a large revenue loss cannot be justified. The bullet train project, one of the biggest infrastructure projects in India was first proposed in 2009, and was later given priority by the Modi government. The 508 kilometer line will have a total of 11 stations and will have a travel time of around two hours.
PTI Last week Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said the first bullet train will begin service in 2023.

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
