Nagpur: The Railway Board's apathy of not regularizing the budgeted superfast train to Amritsar and Pune is not only causing grave inconvenience to the passengers but the Central Railway is also losing on a large chunk of revenue.
According to highly placed sources, the trains are waiting to go official for want of minister's date for inauguration. It is an irony that despite Nagpur having heavyweight ruling party leaders, the train has a long wait to run on a regular basis. To add to the woes of passengers, it has hardly run on time after its launch as a special train.

Railway PRO PD Patil denied the fact, saying the decision to operate trains regularly is purely a Railway Board's decision and it may be due to administrative and technical reasons that the train is not running regularly.
The weekly air-conditioned trains to Nagpur-Amritsar and Nagpur-Pune were announced on July 8, 2014 by the then railway minister Sadananda Gowda on popular demand from passengers.
Shockingly, even after two years, it has not become a regular train. This is despite the fact that Nagpur-Pune-Nagpur (22123-22124) and Nagpur-Amritsar-Nagpur (22125-22126) have been put up in the timetable but are being run as special trains with numbers 02123/02124 and 02125/2126.
While Nagpur-Amrtisar train will run as holiday special till June end, a fresh notification for Nagpur-Pune is yet to be issued. After arrival of full rake, Central Railway is running it as special train from January 16.
Being an AC train, passengers have to shell out more as compared to other mail/express trains. Yet, the train is being neglected and is never punctual.
Passengers travelling to Pune in the AC train as a last resort after not getting berth in other regular trains complain that it always reaches both Pune and Nagpur late by over 3-6 hours.
On occasions, passengers even created ruckus for delayed arrivals. Besides, the train gets less time to maintain and hence is never clean.
"Maybe due to various problems the train occupancy is below expectations. For Amritsar, the passenger occupancy is 30-35% while for Pune it is 40-45%. The occupancy is expected to go up once the train runs regularly," admit officials.
Talking to TOI, senior divisional commercial manager (SrDCM) KK Mishra said, "We are waiting for Railway Board's green signal to operate the train regularly. We will see to it that the train's punctuality is maintained."
The railway officials however denied political hiccups in inauguration.
The railway minister can also inaugurate the train via smartphone or through video-conferencing.

From 2014 onward , train still running as special.
For Amritsar, the passenger occupancy is 30-35% while for Pune it is 40-45% !!

Occupancy will probably increase once the trains are regularised and runs on time. Even if doing so doesn't help, Amritsar-Nagpur can be extended to Hyderabad/Bangalore. This will definitely boost the occupancy rate.

Is train ka rake CR ki jagah SECR ko milna tha...Bilaspur - Amritsar AC exp and Bilaspur - Pune (Via Panvel) AC exp chla sakte the...usse patronage bhi jyaada milta.
I don't want to say ki NGP se patronage nahi milega...its just a thought and think ye better hota. Wat say guys??
