GUWAHATI, June 8 - A railway parcel van coach got partially derailed in the wee hours today at the Level Crossing No. 7 near Gandhibasti here. However, nobody was hurt in the incident.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials said the luggage van slipped from the tracks during shunting and hit the ‘dead-end’ guard-wall of a pit line. It also hit a few shops located near the track, resulting in some damage to the shops. The incident also resulted in blockade of the level crossing, which connects Gandhibasti with Guwahati Club. However, railway personnel were able to clear the level crossing by 10 am.
NFR Chief Public Relations Officer PJ Sharma said there would be an inquiry into the incident. He added that the luggage van was being taken to be attached to a passenger train at the Guwahati Railway Station, when the accident happened.

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...

The modification to the TL Update scheme - i.e. the introduction of the new RAC System - has led to some efficiency with TL Updates. More TLs are being discussed, and quickly moved up. However, we still have on Average, about 300 Waitlisted TLs in the backlog at any time, and our hard-working and diligent TLMs...
