Not required for the owner to travel...Just pack the vehicle at booking depot, empty the petrol tank keep a attach a board with details of vehicle and destination. Receiving person at delivery point should have the receipt provided during booking.

I shipped my bike from SBC to CCT by train a couple of weeks ago . Here are a few important things for you to know.
Luggage booking: You can book it as a luggage so that it can be shipped along with on the same train. But booking is not allowed from every random station and should be confirmed with the luggage office. This costs a bit more than a parcel, and you only have to provide the labour and personally make sure that the bike is loaded. All this will cost a bit more.
Parcel

booking: This was what I followed. This is a cheaper option. It cost me 1900 Rs for shopping my bike and 3 other large boxes ( about 200 kg total). There will be people available outside who will pack it for you and also drain all the petrol ( this is absolutely compulsory and they can even reject the bike if the tank is not empty). Usually they charge about 300-400 rs for the packing. After the packing is complete , fill the shipment form, carry a photocopy of your RC card (registration documents), driving license, one address proof and your bike insurance ( this is not mandatory though). You will be asked to quote a value for your bike. Based on the value you quote, some amount will be charged as insurance.
After this is complete, make sure that the loading staff there correctly put the address on your bike. (they'll also ask for some money, usually around 200 Rs). The bike will be shipped within 3-5 days. ( mind got shipped on the next day itself). Once it reaches the destination, you'll get a call from the parcel office. Collect it within 6 hours as beyond that you'll be charged 10Rs/hr. Show the bill you have been given at the booking office, to collect it at the destination. DONT lose the bill at any cost!

I shipped my Bike from blore vskp by Prashanthi exp 2 yrs back. I filled up a form given by luggage office submitted one personal ID proof along with ticket. The office made sure everyone who booked luggage had a valid ticket for the day even a unreserved ticket is valid. For packing and loading rs 400 and transporting its around rs 2200. The amount of bike value I quoted is 10000 and if u want to quote more the shipping I'll increase accordingly. First thing before u move ur bike to KA take NOC from local RTO and keep it sith u. If in future if u want to register there u need this NOC
. after moving its difficult.

Rules change from time to time and depending on the cleark so visit parcel office inquire with office as well as hamalis to get exact amount if charges. One u get back ur bike in Bangalore the staff there I'll expect rs 100-200 as unloading charges.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
