Hi,
I had booked 3 tickets (same PNR) in 3A from KPG to SBC on Train 12628.
During booking, following was the status:
Passenger 1 - Confirmed
Passenger 2 - Confirmed

3 - W/L 1, RLGN
Today I have cancelled Passenger 1 and Passenger 2 since they are not travelling. As I understand, Passenger 3 in W/L 1, RLGN should now get a confirmed ticket since he was the first one in the waiting list. However the current status of Passenger 3 still shows W/L 1, RLGN.
Can you please analyse and let me understand the process and also let me know if Passenger 3 will get a confirmation. If yes by when?

The issue is not about similar or different rules.
You have two boxes of coins.
When you take out coin from one box, how can you expect the level of coins in the other box to go down?

I am unable to understand the logic. I have booked 3 tickets online at a shot under general quota. 1 and 2 gets a confirmation. 3rd Passenger gets a WL1, RLGN. As far as I know Remote Location General Quota wait list will move when some one cancels the ticket booked from that particular remote location and in this case I have canceled 2 tickets from that location. So technically 3rd passenger should get the confirmation.
I may be wrong in my understanding. Can you please tell me how this works and what is the difference between WL and WL RLGN. Also underr what circumstances will WLRLGN get a confirmation?

General Quota and General Booking are two different things.
RLGN is a Remote Location Quota applicable for intermediate stations, which again inturn has a share from the originating station.

book a ticket with boarding station B for journey upto C. If berths are found vacant under General or Pooled Quota, those shall be assigned to the passengers. For the rest, it would move to the respective WL'ed status.
In your case, for journey from B-C, 2 vacant berths were available under GN Quota. Thus the first two passengers got their berth confirmed under GN Quota whereas the 3rd passenger was placed in the applicable WL. (RLGN).
This WL status would only move up when someone having a confirmed berth under RLGN Quota will cancel their ticket or at the time of cancellation when vacant berths under GN or PQ can be assigned to the WL'ed passenger for optimum utilization of vacant berths.

PS:- Booking several passengers in a single PNR does not guarentee to cover them against a single quota.
There can be one or combination of more than one quota against a single PNR.
Ex:- GN+PQ+RLGN/RSWL+.....
