It was a pleasant morning at MDU when Vaigai honked and started exactly at 7am .It was as usual hauled by RPM Wap 7.The train attained a maximum speed of 111 KMph ALU-VRI section(I didnt capture the proof) . It reached TBM exactly at 14:00. Travelled comfortably in AC Chair Car (C1) . No troubles experienced during journey .
Encountered Trains:
12637 - Pandiyan Express (MS-MDU) - Koodal Nagar (near Madurai)
11021
...
- DR - TEN Express - Ambaturai (near Dindigul)
56707 - DG - MDU Passenger - Dhindukkal Jn.
????? - MS - MDU Special Express - Manapparai
66045 - MLMR - VM MEMU - At Vikravandi
16127 - MS - GUV - At Ulundurpettai
12635 - MS - MDU Vaigai - Tambaram
Couldnt notice 2 trains due to high speed.
Following are the photos taken during the journey.
The first and the second one are Vaigai Express ready to depart from MDU. The third is the 1 hr late running Pandiyan near Koodal Nagar.
The 4th and the 5th images are the ghat section through which the MDU - DG line passes (near Kodai Road). The 6th one is the massive turning after TPJ.

I would recommend to sit in the right side (EAST) while travelling to MS. Even though the majestic Western Ghats come in your left side it is very far for you to a scenic view . Whereas in the right you get o see the Sirumalai Mountain Ranges at close vicinity and the NH 7 runs mostly in the right side . You get to see the highway run parallel from a certain height ( MDU - DG Strech ).
The number of curvatures are also more on the right side . You also get to see the huge Chengalpattu Lake from within few meters from the railway track(just after crossing CGL). But you wont be able to see your train

overtaking Local EMUs after entering Chennai . Maybe after crossing TBM you can switch to the other side.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
