(1) IR has lost many good opportunities of legitimately increasing revenue, some of which I had already touched upon is past blogs.
(2) Flexi/ Suvidha, back door fare increase may fetch some money, but has severely dented the credibility of IR.
(3) Today, govt want to play safe and does not want to take any risk after Bihar/ Delhi elections. Keeping in view crucial UP elections, it do not want to give any issue to the hyper active and ultra anti development opposition parties, who oppose any step taken by...
more... govt with an aim to stop development (main plank of ruling party) and resort to blatant tongue twisting to arouse impatient and emotional public.
(4) With IR finances in very bad shape right now govt is resisting the much necessary fare increase, especially non ac ordinary/ season pass.
(5) Introducing large number of trains in the poll bound state. All these are political decisions of party high command over which RM has no saying/control. We can only hope that this practice shall subside after the elections are over.
