In a shocking incident, two metro trains equipped with anti-collision system collided after coming on the same track. The incident happened during a trial run of the new magenta line metro near Kalindi Kunj depot, leaving the Delhi Metro officials in jitters. No casualties were reported in the incident.
According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials, the incident occured on Friday afternoon during a trial run on the Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West line, which is slated to become operational next year

with advanced anti-collision technology; the incident occurred on Friday at 3:45 pm during the pre-commissioning phase. An inquiry has been ordered into the case.
A DMRC official said that while new trains were manufactured by Hyundai Rotem, the trains were in control of the company staff.
“A train, which was under complete control of Hyundai Rotem for commissioning, was moved, perhaps inadvertently in reverse direction by the Rotem staff,” said DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal.
Hyundai Rotem, a South Korean company, is responsible for commissioning the standard gauge cars of the Delhi Metro.
Dayal added that the impact was minimum during the collision due to the relatively slow speed of the train. “There was no need to worry as it was in a depot, and one train just grazed against the other sideways. Also, the speed of the train was 2-3 kmph thus minimising the impact of the side-rubbing, and no one was hurt in the incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dayal ensured that while an inquiry has been ordered in the incident, suitable action will be taken by Hyundai Rotem and DMRC in the matter. “These new trains are fully equipped to provide most reliable and safe service to public after commissioning even without train operators. Our mainline train operations are fully safe and there is no scope of any such collision there due to provision of ATP (automatic train protection) and ATO (automatic train operation) during passenger services,” Dayal added.

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...

The modification to the TL Update scheme - i.e. the introduction of the new RAC System - has led to some efficiency with TL Updates. More TLs are being discussed, and quickly moved up. However, we still have on Average, about 300 Waitlisted TLs in the backlog at any time, and our hard-working and diligent TLMs...
