Mail shared rake with SBC SF. But SF was introduced much later probably after Brindavan.

A day time SF was present between both cities long before Brindavan. Check this TT from 1931. (Source: IRFCA)

23/24 Bangalore express ( later 6023/24), has pretty much the same schedule as the present day 12609/10. Probably the train was converted to an SF after Lalbagh was started, which was much later than Brindavan. In fact, even sleep-killer was a rather ordinary train in terms of speed until the 90's.
Time tables from the 1870's also have one day train and one night train between MAS-SBC. At that time, there were 2 trains from Madras to Beypore, a day time train and a night-departure train. The SBC-MAS trains used to run combined with the Beypore bound trains between MAS-JTJ.

Yes. Sleep killer took 6 hours or so. Brindavan was the fastest before 90s.

Yes, Brindavan was a superfast from the beginning and used to complete the SBC-MAS run in less than 6 hours! Mail used to have a 7.5-8 hour run and was slower that the ICE also, which took about 7 hours. Mail also used to have quite a few halts. Looks like, Mail was sped up after introduction of Kaveri express and mail's old halts/schedule were given to Kaveri instead.

It seems that the poll results are favouring Kalka Mail.....

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...

The modification to the TL Update scheme - i.e. the introduction of the new RAC System - has led to some efficiency with TL Updates. More TLs are being discussed, and quickly moved up. However, we still have on Average, about 300 Waitlisted TLs in the backlog at any time, and our hard-working and diligent TLMs...
