In a shocking incident, a pregnant lady lost her life after being pushed front of a local train by an alleged chain snatcher at Kurla railway station on Tuesday night.
The incident took place around 8 pm on Tuesday, when the woman waiting for a train at the ladies compartment section of Platform 1 at Kurla station.
A CCTV footage of the incident, captured from a camera installed at the platform, shows a youth approaching the unsuspecting woman and snatching her chain.
then hurls her towards the fast-approaching train, causing her to fall on the train tracks and get run over by the local.
Following the incident, the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Officials learnt about her pregnancy after her demise.
The accused, meanwhile, tried to run towards the stairs but was caught by onlookers and handed over to Kurla GRP. He was identified as Rafi Malik. The 19-year-old hails from Orissa and is currently in police custody.
