In fact Govt has given priority to many infrastructure sectors like Water transport (River & Coastal shipping), IRlys, Road, Airways by substantially increasing the investments in the capacity augmentation & modernisation. Availability of electricity in villages. Solar power generation, Nuclear power, Cleanliness campaign and Make in India is also a very high thrust area. Rly is not the only priority.

First Bihar, then UP and to some extent Goa & Punjab, the poll bound states had been the showered goodies. In next phase, other poll bound states are supposed to get goodies. At least almost all the states shall get goodies turn by turn. This situation is much better than the previous situation where most of the goodies are showered to a 1 or 2 states (of RMs) for full five year term and other states starved for 5 long years. At least RM is not acting as RM of his state as it used to be in previous regimes.

Political interference have not finished in IR, but definitely minimised in real sense. The is good to note that RM has taken care to have substantial investments in all the states and zones, and a huge fraction of it is going in financially rewarding projects. This is a good thing which has not happened in IR at least since last 2 decades. In IR, earlier most of the investment was done in the home state of RMs and a major part was dedicated to the loss making projects like new lines in home states of RM. Results of this prolonged abuse is today before us, congestion, accidents, low speeds, poor financial condition of IRlys.
