Whatever written In this article is nothing but rubbish. Columnist is saying that freight segment is in profit bcoz no. Of Freight wagons are more as compared to passenger coaches!! Doesn't he understand that their is thing called operating ratio exists in this world. Passenger trains have high operating ratio under current fare scheme so whether you operate 100 passenger coaches or 1 lakh passenger coaches, loss will be there. Rather it would increase with increase in no. Of operational coaches. The whole article lacks facts & figures & even lacks the common sense.
" Indian Railways isn't the lifeline of this country" this is the most absurd thing I have read in any News article.

He is a retired AGM of South Eastern Railway, certainely more knowledgeable than pvt job doing / college studying / competitive exam aspirants with age 20s or 30s like you and me. No. of years in our age is no. of years of his Railways experience. At least have the courtesy of respecting the age and experience of the author.

When anyone comments to any article, his/her reaction should be taken in context with the write up not with the author's personal character. Second, elderly people can't write anything wrong, is this an universal law? Few months back a very senior retried Railway Official wrote an article in a reputed newspaper where he criticized the use of CBC coupling in passenger coaches. He literally bashed the Railway Board & railway ministry for installation of CBC coupling in passenger coaches and called this a retrogressive act. After few days, Kanpur accident happened and once again proved that screw coupling causes more casualties during an accident. So, whether that "experienced, retired" official was right? Respect the experience but use you own wisdom too.

Just because one is elderly and Retired AGM doesn't mean he is right.
I stopped reading this baseless article when the writer said that railways aren't a necessity to this country.
Many wrong policies are followed in our country because of our obedience to elderly politician .

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
