Station Master can issue tickets when the revenue of station is below 50L so with 2 SM they can complete a station.
if revenue goes above 50L one clerk +1 SM so 4 people
beyond 1 C. 2 AVTM SM and 2 clerk so 6 people. like that we can increase base positions and cut upper positions.

Today mrng I was chatting with one of my friend who work in railways
He said like this
"Suburban trains and workshop is under private sector now. Locomotives are already privatized. Wagon manufacturing is privatized. Now workshops under privatization. Slowly private players will run trains. Stations are given for Private developers."

* It is better if IR increase efficiency without privatisation. But it is not happening since last 7 decades of independence. In fact political interference in IR continuously increasing and market share of IR is continuously falling since independence, with continuous erosion of ethics & morals of governments. Since 1950 share of rail traffic has fallen from 89% to 25-30% (freight) & 75% to 15-20% (passenger).
* Efficient Rail transport is absolutly essential requirement for our country to grow and prosper. Development of country cannot be held-up just to provide Govt. employment to about 10 lac people. If 66% of freight traffic and 40% of passenger traffic is efficiently carried by railways in our country, the logistic shall come down by

2-4 lac Crore Rs resulting in huge boost to economy!
* Air traffic and connectivity has developed leap and bounds after it was opened to private sector. More over telecom sector, Power generation, etc have also made unprecedented developments after it was opened to private sector. Every time there were apprehensions from sections of public/intellectuals, but at the end people, government and country, all have benefited dur to increase in efficiency after private sector was involved.
* Privatisation of Rly has to be done properly by allowing private sector also and by nurturing genuine competition by providing level playing field to all the players including IR.

* Best option is that IR become efficient, and free of corruption. But 70 years of past experience give a little hope.
* Privatisation does not mean IR and its shall be sold off, it means entry of private sectors also who will competitor with IR on a level playing field provided through a regulating authority which shall have members from govt as well as pvt sectors. Private sector shall be allowed to construct rail lines, operate freight/passenger trains in competition with IR.
* Even after opening the telecom sector, BSNL is

surviving as it is learning to get better & better. Now public don't have to face waiting period or have to bribe to get new phone/mobile connections.
* Privatisation does not necessary mean a very bright future. It has to be done properly and in right spirit.
* Govt has its own limitations, it cannot recruit best candidates, as till now 50% of candidates are selected on merit & 50% through reservation. (Politicians are trying hard to increase this %, but Supreme court guidelines have prevented them to go beyond 50%). It is difficult to promote a good work culture because officially or unofficially reservation is there in promotions also, which acts a big demotivation for the good performers.
* Before liberalisation (pre 1991), best graduates were joining the govt jobs as there were negligible good opportunities in Good pvt/Multinational Cos. But today best talents head for Multinational/Pvt Cos. due to much better opportunities given by them.

1. where to allow them is big question mark.. already there are private catering in IR. if needed we can allow private hotels inside stations. allowing at station security monitoring signalling and operations are too much
2.BSNL struggled in court to get good compensation for providing infrastructure to private networks (still case pending) which reduces effeciancy in BSNL else BSNL could have been in 5G with its work strength
3. Reservation of 18% never ever going to reduce effeciancy. There is no authenicated record that reservation reduced effeciancy in Government sector (OBC
