I think rush will be not that great as 30 minutes before MYS-MV express will depart and i think you can easily get a seat.

Yeah ask for return ticket there itself if the journey is on same day. Also, as per your plan if there is no work for u at Mysore, u can buy ticket there too. But don't miss 16557 as 56213 running after that will be heavily crowded:(

Oh again 16557 (that starts from Mysore, not bangalore). 16558 starts from Bangalore and rush is not that great and if you can come 30 minutes early as per your plan then it is more than enough i feel.
