indiarail.gov.in is showing Tatkal charges for 3AC is 300... but if I am not wrong its old charges... new charges are 200 .. ?

i suppose you are not aware of tatkal charges and tatkal booking procedure. Tatkal charges in addition to normal fare per passenger( applicable both in peak and lean periods )
10 %of the basic fare for second class and 30% of the basic fare for second class and 30% of the basic fare for all other classes subject to minimum and maximum as noted below:-

Sleeper min 75:00 max 150:00
AC Chair Car min 75:00 max 150:00

and if you are relying on your internet connection to book a tatkal ticket then beware, you may end up getting a WL ticket within minutes of booking opens at 8am. so suggest you to go to nearest PRS (railways station reservation counter)

You were completely right... though I took risk on my own internet but IRCTC was down till 8:30 .. it was showing Service Unavailable and on the other hand seat availability on Indiaraill.gov.in was showing just 2 seats in 3AC on 8:08 ... finally it got WT/REGRET around 8:18 from Surat to coimbatore.... I was completely feeling down but ended up getting confirmed from Pune to Coimbatore.... if I would have gone to PRS then situation might have been a diff view...
