Blog Entry# 330565 Posted: Jan 18 2012 (9:11PM) 17 Responses Last Response: Jan 23 2012 (6:50PM) This is a question regarding booking a lower berth quota ticket through irctc when the general quota for the corresponding class has "no room". I am trying to book a ticket that is eligible for booking under "Lower berth quota". The ticket availability status shows that a lower berth quota ticket is available for the travel. However there is no room for general quota tickets for the same journey and its status shows as REGRET/WL. Through IRCTC, I am not able to book the ticket available under "Lower berth quota" as it does not allow booking for the travel because the "General" quota has no room. How could I get over this problem? 9 posts - Wed Jan 18, 2012 - are hidden. Click to open. 2 posts - Thu Jan 19, 2012 - are hidden. Click to open. If LB is available and GN is in WL, Before payment itself it will be shown as available If both are available,it wont show the LB availability,LB will be allotted automatically If LB is not available and GN is available, Berth selection will be random. 2 posts - Fri Jan 20, 2012 - are hidden. Today I had an interesting experience in booking a first AC berth of Konkan Kanya. While filling I gave my berth preference as Lower. I went ahead with the booking. It went to my bank and the amount was withdrawn and then just before the ticket usually comes up, it asked: It is no possible for a lower berth Click Yes, if you want the booking and click No if you don't want. I said no first and I would now take a couple of days to get refund. I tried again and this time said yes and got my CONFIRMED first AC ticket The funny thing is that yesterday I booked a Howrah mail ticket and this did not happen Great.Must be a new feature? Congratulations Or is it some glitch in IRCTC system? |
