Ofcourse there is no Hilly area between UMB-CDG but the line was laid from Kalka to Ambala as a whole & not CDG-UMB, so proportionate chunk will also be inflated for UMB-CDG travel.

Yes why not!! Actual distance between CDG-UMB is 44-45 KM's but railways charge 67 KM's.

dear, check every train details between NDLS-UMB on any govt railway site. its 199kms. and then check google map distance/route between UMB-CDG, its 47kms approx which is less straighter then the rail route. so, UMB-CDG distance by rail comes to 244kms approx. now again check map between CDG-KLK, the distance by road is 22kms approx. so, the rail route between CDG-KLK comes something around approx 25kms. henceforth, the total distance between NDLS-KLK actually is 269kms approx and not 303kms. Thanks for understanding.

it's just one of many dirty business tactics of IR, to inflate the distance so that passengers has to pay more for actually lesser distance.

This site now shows actual accurate rail kms, for all train routes and distances.
The official kms. in this and many other cases, are not actual rail distances, but a number used to calculate the ticket fare. These kms. are reverse-calculated by the govt., based on how much target ticket fare they wish to charge the passengers for that journey - they are not actual distances.
Very soon, we shall also show the official kms. as a tooltip to enable you to calculate telescopic and other fares.
Thanks.

sry for typo error. please read "so, UMB-CDG distance by rail comes to 244kms approx." as "so, NDLS-CDG distance by rail comes to 244kms approx."
