All those have become History now.The Bankura Damodar Railway (acronym BDR) (also referred to as Bankura Damodar River Railway) was a narrow gauge line, built and operated as part of McLeod’s Light Railways, in Bankura and Bardhaman districts in the Indian state of West Bengal. Yesterday I went to Bankura because its very close to me. I have spent 4 years of my childhood there. My father spent his entire childhood and youth and did his schooling. We lived near the narrow gauge line and the steam engine used to pull 3 coaches twice a day daily. At that time there were both BG station and NG station on opposite sides to each other. But in 1995 this line was closed and slowly slowly everything became history. The Bankura loco shed used to have many types of steam engines. Different classes and varied rolling stock. But...

at that time I was small and did not have camera to capture all those things. All engines were taken to Kolkata except one which is still present outside the BG station. The NG station has disappeared and houses and roads have been built there. The NG line was removed and all quarters were demolished. Shed was closed. Mamata Banerjee planned to revive the section and the Bankura-Rainagar section was converted to BG and linked to Bankura BG station. But the NG station side, its shed, its area, its railway quarters, nothing is alive. Miss those old days. Here are some pictures which I took yesterday.

Well, i have seen these pictures. In the second picture, the train has halted and passengers are boarding/deboarding the train. In those days, this was a halt....no platform, station board, no building, nothing.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
