CHANGE OF BOARDING POINT :
If a passenger desires to occupy reserved accommodation from any station enroute, he would be permitted to entrain at any intermediate station he chooses irrespective of the distance from the starting station subject to the following conditions :
A specific request must be made in writing at the station from where the ticket is purchased and reservation made atleast 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the starting station.
The Railway Administration reserves the right to use such accommodation from the originating station up to the station at which the passenger is due to entrain.
No refund will be permissible for the portion of journey not

performed by the passenger.
This is what i saw in the railway time table.

Personal experience.
Did you go and threaten him that you are going to complain to the higher officials for all their denials??
I am sorry to say but time and again you are being unable to handle the situation. You should have a firm voice and determination to prove them wrong.

Dear Sri Dipyman Basu, I too faced with a similar problem during my attempt to change BP from MTP to CBE. The CRS has given in writing that on 18-12-10 "Boarding Point at CBE NOT allowed since quota point". There seems to some local ruling in respect such quota change cases. Only consolation in my case is that cbe is immediate next station after mtp. The TTE advised that as the TTEs board the train only at CBE, I can safely board the train at cbe and no need to change the BP officially. Since then I am booking all my tickets from MTP to mas and board the train at cbe without any problem. Initially for two or three journeys, I deputed my filed staff at MTP to go to the mtp station and inform the TTE that I will...

be boarding at cbe. But my staff informed that SM also commented that there is no need for the action as the TTEs will be boarding at cbe only. Many people are doing like me in both Sleeper and AC classes. Once even I got upgraded from AC 3T to AC first class and again I boarded the train at cbe only.

Yes Sir. I am well aware with this incident which had happened with you. As per official notifications, change of boarding point would not affect any quota distribution.
For example:
A-B-C-D
Let's say I wish to travel from B-D. Due to unavailability of tickets from B, I purchase a confirmed/RAC/WL'ed ticket from A-D.
Now if I change my boarding point from A to B, the initial quota allocated to me would remain the same. Even if I have a WL'ed/RAC Ticket, the quota allotted would remain the same and any cancellation/confirmation matrix would be calculated by taking my boarding point as A.
In any case,

I am paying the full fare from A-C.

It has been often noticed that such disputes regarding change of boarding point is prevalent mostly to trains plying from/to Southern Part of India.

for eg:
A - B -C-D
Let say I want to travel from C to D.
according the supervisors if you have booked tickets from A(starting station) to D. then you can change the Boarding point C.But as you(in my case) have booked from B(middle station) to D so you cant change the boarding point to C

no madam...if you book your ticket from either a or b,you can get the boarding pont changed to c 24 hrs before departure of train...even if c does not lie in gnwl and lies in rlgn/rlwl still bp may be changed...that is the rule...you may refer trains at a glance if you have any doubts whatsoever...
