Train services on Eastern Railway’s Sealdah, Howrah and Asansol divisions were disrupted as strikers threw banana leaves on overhead wires leading to power failure in Canning and some other parts of the suburban network.
An Eastern Railway media release said strike supporters obstructed rail movement at Shantipur, Gede, Plassey, Bongaon, Madhyamgram, Chandpara and Hasnabad stations.
DO YOU THINK BENGAL DESERVES A NOBEL PRIZE FOR PHYSICS for disrupting electrical circuits with BANANA LEAVES. ARE WE NOT PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN TO HAVE MADE SUCH A GREAT SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD.

i'am amuzed and courious to know how did they threw it exactly on the overhead electric cables? if they are so accurate then they should try for shooting event in olympics 2012.

it's not like that pramodh. the flow of current will stop at the point where the insulator comes. it doesn't flow like wind that it can pass through some gap.
yeah agree rahul bhai,if they can pin point their throws,it shd b used for beneficial purpose than these notorious ones...even plucking mangoes wud help...he wud b a hit in his school days amongst his frnds i guess...
Wonder, what used to be the suburban trains position in ER/SER, when TMC was organising bandhs and CPM used to be in power in WB, and Rlys controlled by TMC.......
