Welcome to the new look of IRI, and also apologies to those who find this layout change inconvenient, and want the old look back.
The change was made because the old Tab/SubTab scheme was no longer sustainable with the rapid introduction of new features, and the resulting cluttering up of the screen. The new look is menu driven. There are 2 main components to the new look.
1.
...
The Omni Search Box at the top: You can look up pretty much any station, train, search details by typing in the Omni Box. The box will adapt to what you type in. You can check the following details through that one box: Train TimeTables, Availability, Fare Chart, Route Map, Train Forum, Train Trips, Station Arrival/Departures, Station Map, Station Search - all of these are available through that ONE box. You don't need to go hunting around for the individual details anymore.
2. The Navigation Bar: The Bar is menu-driven, and all Tab/Subtabs are accessible through that ONE bar.
Together, the Omni Box and the Navigation Bar will allow you to access every corner of the site without hunting around for buttons or boxes. (see pic).
Further Details:
1. The Omni Box is "sticky". The contents don't clear after every query, like it was before. So, if you search from Station A to Station B, both stations will "stick" to the box, and you don't have to type in the same stations again for other details. So, for example, if you wish to search trains from A to B, A to C and A to D, one after the other. Only the second station box needs to be repopulated. You don't need to fill A in repeatedly.
2. The Navigation Bar is also "sticky". It sticks to the top of the screen as you scroll down. So, it is always accessible and visible no matter where you are on the site.
3. Infinite Scrolling: The various forums, news, train details, etc. will now automatically scroll as you page down. There is no need to hit the Next Page button anymore.
4. Both the Omni Box and Navigation Bar are "adaptive" and "dynamic". They will change depending on the user. For example, when you are logged in, all the "My PNRs", "My Blog Posts", "My Trains", etc. will automatically appear as a menu below your name. When you logout, the same link will change into a "Login" link.
Please note that only the layout has changed. ALL past functionality is still present as it was before. When you find that some feature seems to be missing, just experiment with the new Omni Box and the Navigation Bar, and you will find that feature. There is no need to look elsewhere.
This layout change was made after a lot of consideration and deliberation, knowing that the past look was not sustainable for the future. There was not much choice but to change. Please bear with us, just experiment and get used to the new look and feel.
Thanks.

Here are some guidelines for members regarding the new Report button and the revamped FM system: 1. Often we have some TL Entries seemingly in WaitList forever. Usually, the reason for this is that TLMs have already looked at the TL Entry but are not confident enough to Confirm it or are looking for more inputs from the Member regarding the source, etc. And this delay eventually causes...

This is to address persistent and lingering questions about FM Appointments: . 1. Being an FM is a service. It is NOT supposed to be some kind of "reward" or "medal" to "deserving" members. The ULTIMATE OBJECTIVE of the process is to promptly handle/look into Reports filed by members, which is expected to...

There are some changes to the Forum section. . The Objection feature is now completely GONE. We now only have a "Report Abuse" button. When the Report button is used, an alert is sent to the "Forum Monitor" group. ALL FMs will see an "FM Alert" notification at the top. Thereafter, they will...

Very soon, we shall have a points-system for Timeline updates, Atlas updates, News updates, Blog Tagging, News Tagging, Blog Tagging, etc. The reason for this is that some kinds of updates require more hard work and are more useful than others. Up-to-date News about late-running trains, updating TTs of trains only...

This is to address queries in the Forum about our various Groups - Admin, TL Monitor, FAQ Monitor, etc. . We are not appointing Admins anymore. Before Monitors, we had just one group called the Admin group. Now, we have the various Monitor groups. Our Admins themselves are members of the various Monitor...
