This morning my dad asked me a puzzling question which I'd throw open to all railfans to answer- What would be the longest (most expensive) journey by First AC from Mumbai to anywhere on Indian Railways network, strictly adhering to the following two conditions-
1) The train/trains used should be mail/express, passengers or superfast only. No Rajdhani/Duronto allowed.
2) Changing trains is allowed but the combination should necessarily follow the shortest direct route from Mumbai to the destination, so, for example, you can suggest going from Mumbai to Guwahati changing multiple trains to
...

be in First AC all the way as long as the route being taken is same as the route of the shortest direct train from Mumbai to Guwahati. You cannot go Mumbai to Delhi and change train to go Delhi-Guwahati because there is a shorter Mumbai-Guwahati route available (though First AC is not available on that train)
Maximizing distance is not really important, what matters the most is that the First AC fare should be maximized!
I hope I have not confused you guys! Please suggest the "most expensive" First AC route

sir,let us not get into this blame game...all the sites are good and each site has its advantage and disadvantage...further this site has a live forum, unlike irfca, hence some may prefer it...others may avoid it as there may be a greater scope of spam as the blogs are not moderated before being posted...so,i would request you to adhere to the original discussion...

yes, irfca members are generally senior in age. but how can you call it boring? the rest of us senior rail fans like the discussion there. If you are young and don't want to come there, then don't come. irfca is a good site for senior, experienced people to have quality discussion.

Then all you retired, old people can go there and have discussion. Why do you come here and spoil the fun for young people? Go back to IRFCA, your retirement home!!!

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
