சேலம்-கரூர் ரெயில் பாதையில் வருகிற 25-ந்தேதி முதல் பயணிகள் ரெயில் இயக்கப்படுகிறது.
சேலத்தில் இருந்து கரூர் வழியாக தென் மாவட்டங்களுக்கு ரெயில் இயக்க வேண்டும் என்ற பொதுமக்களின் நீண்ட நாள் கோரிக்கையை ஏற்று இந்த திட்டம் கடந்த 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு தொடங்கப்பட்டது.
ஆரம்பத்தில் இந்த திட்ட மதிப்பீடு குறைவாக இருந்தது. பின்னர் இந்த திட்டம் ஆண்டு கணக்கில் நடந்து வந்ததால் அதன் மதிப்பு ரூ. 800 கோடியாக அதிகரித்தது.
