Jog falls is the world famous one and in your map i can see that it is passing little away from that area (of course its a tough terrain). nevertheless this route if realized will give a big boost for tourism and provide nearest connectivity to Karwar and Goa from bangalore.

Yes. The whole route comes under western ghats and thats why delay has happened in execution of the project as clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forestry is needed.

Yeah you are right. Equally people are fighting for Hubli-Ankola line which is almost parallel to this though separated by around 50-100 kms.

If KR could build 738 kms of track in less than 10 years, then this line should not take more than a year !!

Sir even on plains they simpply drag new line and GC projects like anything. Even electrification is not going on fast. How do expect a line in difficult Ghat section that requires clearing of thick vegetation will be completed in one year ?

Building a small stretch of single line will hardly take 10-12 months if the highly corrupt govt officials work with dedication. Let me tell you that the line of hardly 100 kms between Apta and Roha took more time than building 738 kms of line over difficult territory ! Reason? The Roha line was built by IR and the KR line was built by KR itself without any "red tapism" !! The reason usually given by officials is lack of funds. But I am surprised to see more than 1 lakh crores being allotted to Kashmir railway which does not have good Return of Investment !
