today is 37th Anniversary of 18645/46 HWH HYB EAST COAST Express.

It was introduced on on 16/05/1975 b/w BZA & HWH,Named after Eastern Coast of india..
train number was 45/46.
Stoppages b/w BZA- VSKP : Vijayawada,Eluru,Tadepalligudem,Nidadavolu,Rajamundry,Samalkot,Pithapuram,Annavaram,
Tuni,Ellamanchili,Anakapalle,Visakhapatnam.

the train was then extended to Hyderabad Deccan after 1995.

it use to leave HYB at 7 AM and reach HWH the next day morning..
the timings of HWH HYB East Coast were same as now.
train number was 17045/46
.
AFter the extension of Janmabhoomi Express, the timings of HYB HWH East Coast were Changed.
the Base Maintainance was shifted to HTE since it has RSA with 18615/16 HWH HTE Express..

18645 COvers 1589 kms in 30h 45m at avg speed of 56 KMPH with 51 halts.
18646 coversthe same distance in 30h 10m at Avg speed of 51 KMPH with 56 halts.

The train was first introduced between Howrah and Vijayawada after cancellation of the service of the twin Hyderabad-Puri Express and passenger trains. It was then extended to Guntur. After the delinking of the through coaches from Krishna Express (slip coaches as they are now called in IR terminology), this train was extended to Hyderabad.But I am unable to recall the years when these changes took place.

I think its should be between HWH-Chennai main line which is saturated like any thing. Already BZA-KZJ 3rd sanctioned same time they should start the 3rd in east coast route also.

Right Venkat. I think Godavari has become a victim of the stoppages. Other trains have been luckier. Take the case of 3UP/4DN HWH-Chennai Mail.
1986 timings are HWH dep: 2000 MAS arr:445 / MAS dep: 2200 HWH arr:635.
Present timings HWH dep: 2345 MAS arr:350/MAS dep: 2340 HWH arr:410. The curtailment in running time is more nearly 4/5 hours despite the same number of 33 stoppages. Runwise I rate it higher than the present-day Coromandel although Coromandel when introduced did the run in flat 25 hrs with only 3 halts at BBS, VSKP and BZA.
