Can WAG5 and WAG7 be used to drive express trains?
WAP-5 can't haul 24 coach train.
only a powerful WAP-7 can do it which is certified to do at 130-140kph but restricted by IR for express train to 110kph.

Yes WAP-5 faces problem while hauling a 24 coach train.
the gear ratio doesn't apply to a 24 coach train.
Prayagraj Express gets WAP-5 where it takes 324secs to climb the speed of 110kph which means that its less gear ratio when compared to a WAP-7 who does it in 230secs.
WDM-2's can't haul single handedly 24 coaches, twins are required for it.
WDM-3A old version do face the same thing, but the latest converted with DBR system sometimes help it haul single handed.W
WDM-3D, WDG-3A does 24 coach haul single handed without any hassles.
