But Rajdhani's average departure time is 10 Mins late.

There is a huge comparison of both!! a single WDG-3A can't pull 70 BPTN wagons whereas the single WAG-9 does it effortlessly.
Similarly, a single WDM-2A can't haul 24 coach train at high mps, so often twins are used to give additional power, whereas a WAP-4 n WAP-7 do it effortlessly.
WDM-3D's with DBR fitted sometimes require twins to haul a 24 coach train or else they do haul it single handed.
WDM-3A rules the Rajdhani to mps of 120kph coz of 16-20 coaches, whereas the WDP-4 n WAP's do at higher MPS.
WAP's do they know their power n WDM's know what they are.

WDM-3A's competitor is WAM-4/WAG-5/WAG-7
WDM-3D's competitor is WAM-4/WAG-5/WAG-7/and the WCAM's too.
WDP-1's competitor is no one as it self is a derated loco.
WDG-3A's competitor is WAP-1/WAM-4/WDP-3A
WDP-4's competitor is WAP-4
WDG-4's competitor is WAP-4/WAG-7
WDG-5's competitor is WAG-7/WAP-4
There are no competitors to WAP-5, WAP-7 n WAP-8(coming soon) as they're even more acquired with higher power.
even a WDP-5 will face competition with WAP-5 n P-4 as the tractive effort is higher than any WDM power.
Both can do better work, but at different aspects.

So please do not compare diesel with electric loco. It hurts me as I love diesel locos too. Electric locos have been always more powerful than their diesel counterparts- they were made so. Had the diesel locos been as powerful as the electric ones, this comparison would be of some worth.

I guess u r a Diesel lover n FYI, even m a ALCO N ELCO lover n its my own to describe any Diesel or Electric's action.
Sometimes I do define Diesels as the slowest n sometimes as HUNK.
So better let the belief b in rail fanning. Don't try to justify what's great n where. An Canadian Pacific Steam can outwit both WAP-4's n WDM's family. So i didn't count them here.
In conclusion, M a DELCO fan.
