It seems that a Major Block is coming in the South Eastern Rly b/w Jaleswar-Amarda Rd in the Kharagpur-Balasore Section, which is an all important route. Thanks to News posted by Rang De Basanti Sir.The block will start from 5 am on Friday & willcontinue upto 3 pm on Sunday.Officially though stated, actually the block has already started a few days ago.As important trains from Bhubaneshwar Side towards Howrah(Coromandel,YPR HWH,MAS Mail,SBC/ERS/TVC-GHY) have arrived HWH in past few days,as delayed as upto 2-3 Hrs.But what is going to be this weekend, will create havoc for the passengers. As I've witnesses such block in past in The Eastern Rly,where Steel Girders were needed to be replaced @ BNXR.Train movements literally stop for the aforesaid work.Undoubtedly same thing will happen over SER also for this upcoming weekend.Whats more is they've already cancelled a few important Trains like
(i)Vishakhapatnam...
more... Digha Weekly Exp
(ii)Puri HWH Weekly Exp
(iii)Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam HWH Exp
(iv)Shalimar SC Exp
(v)Shalimar Baripada Exp
(vi)Sealdah Puri Duronto Exp
(vii)HWH BBS Jan Shatabdi Exp
Hope the Giant trains(No Need to mention the names,as everyone knows that this route carries very important Trains)dont get cancelled. Also the block will be on Up Line,so trains moving towards KGP/HWH will be more affected rather than trains coming from HWH/KGP.
One thing I would like to ask is
(i)How much delay is expected for 12864 which will be leaving YPR on 24.05.2012 & certainly pass the aforesaid section within the Block Limits?Yesterday,we have seen that while Similar Block was taken in ER,Bally-Dumdum Section,The PURI-SDAh Duronto was not only rescheduled after 4 Hrs 50 mts delay, but also it had to wait for 2 Hrs 30 mts enroute. So total delay was close to 8 Hrs(!!!) for a Duronto Train.Under thses circumstances, can we expect that the Up YPR HWH Exp can be delayed close to 12 Hrs?
(ii)How much delay is expected for 12863,which will be leaving HWH on 27.05.2012?Though it is expected to cross the Block Section after the Block Limits, but certainly impact of delay will be there as it is a Mega Block.
(iii)When such blocks are inevitable due to the safety & security reasons,Why does Rly still keep the Advance Reservation Period 120 days?As blocks are announced 1-2 days before they're actually taken & when important trains get cancelled like this, what option remains to the public who've booked their ticket so advance? Will Rly provide them alternate accomodation in any subsequent trains on any later date?Certainly not.Because bookings for those trains also started 120 days Advance & perhaps they're running with too huge W/L.
When Railway themselves are not sure, that the train will run or not after 120 days,is there any point in grabbing the Public Money such in Advance?
