When mail and kaveri stood at waitlists of 100+ this train gave me hope by having 270 tickets still present and so I booked it
Reached Chennai Central at 10:20PM and since had to wait for my relative stayed out-the display board hadnt allotted the platform number yet and waited desperately for the same
Walked in to station at 10:45Pm-A TNP WDMx was on platform 5 with Bangalore mail and lights hadnt switched on as yet-Platform 4 had WAM4 hauled arrived rake of CBE duronto desperately waiting to go to the yard-

but to my surprise the train had a S15 coach as well so another 20 mtrs extra walk!! Boarde dthe train-
13352 gave the signal and proceeded at 11PM-Platform 8 was occupied by 12840 Howrah Mail-surprising to see a grill gate in the 3A coach for entry into the 3A cabin-some new procedure-the WAP4 which had hauled 13352 til MAS from ALLP moved out soon
Announcement kept blaring that 12292 to Yeshvantapur via Jolarpet was leaving and exactly at 11:30PM we moved out-our coach was a 93 make and had a old look though it was maintained a bit
As train started I felt sleepy and boarded my MB and slept-when I woke up it was 4AM and train was at Bangarpet-the DMU was resting in the neighbouring line-anyway 45 minutes we could reach KJM
Train started well and accelerated(Dont know who hauled us as my coach was too behind)-but then slowed down and halted at Tyakal for reason unknown-a BCNA rake crossed us in opposite side
After 10 minutes came from behind a loud horn overtaking us-no idea what it was-Assumed it was some late running Sanghamithra probably(Later realised that 12658 Mail left MAS behind us and it was given a go ahead at Tyakal stopping us)
Slowly we blasted again ad at 5:25AM reached KJM-walked out of the station where within 5 minutes came a D-5 following a 500D and took it to reach JP nagar in just 40 mins most probably well ahead of the time the train took to reach YPR

I think so..for Mysore bound travellers,they have to commute to Sbc by auto to catch connecting train.Thats the problem

12291 used to be the regular train i take form KJm to MAS when the scenario was me working in BLR and Family in chennai.. Pretty good train.. The loco would have been a WAP-1 or 4 for sure.. It used to get the GTL shakti in its earlier days of running...

It is one best trains from MAS to YPR but since it runs on SAT, tkts are easily avbl and cancellations are high. same with YPR MAS as it runs weekly once but useful on Friday :)

Yes!! YPR destination is the issue but KJM is ideal with 500 series starting by 4:30AM itself!! Anyway it wasnt a problem for us!
