My maiden trip report on Namma Metro.
------------------------------------------------------
I had a joy ride on the Namma Metro- Bangalore. Actually I did not have any plan for the metro ride on that day. I was in MG Road for some other purposes. After my work at MG Road finished I thought to have a ride on the metro train.
I reached the MG Road station
...
(Which is now the terminal station) to start my journey at around 2PM. It is a clean station build on the MG Road. Good security arrangement was there. In the entrance the security was scanning every one with metal detector. All luggage, handbag was scanned. Very less number of commuters present there. I felt that now the metro train in Bangalore is used just for joy ride purpose. The fare is high in compare to bus. The metro train covers a very small route. I expect that it will be used by more commuters when the first phase will be completed. (i.e. – The two main railway stations SBC and YPR will be connected)
I enquired for the ticket. The fare ranged between Rs.10/- to Rs.15/- i.e. If I travel from MG Road to Bypannahali(The other terminal station) then the fare is Rs.15/- There was two types of tickets.
Tokens -Used for single journey.
Varshik Card-Stored value card on which people get a 15% discount on fare.
I purchased a varshik Card from the counter and entered to the platform by showing the card in the gate, there were a good number of security personals present in the platform. The frequency of train is now 15min. After 4/5 min wait the train arrived in the platform.
The train was looking great, There was around 50passengers present in the train. Almost every body was on a joy ride. They became busy taking photograph using mobile. There was announcement of the next station and the door opening side inside the train. The train started its journey. In around 12mins it reached the destination.
The Bypannahali metro station is a ground level station. All the rakes were stored there, Pay and Park facility is there and close to the Bypannahali railway station. During the exit I have to show the Card to open the exit gate. The fare deducted accordingly.
Overall I enjoyed the journey.
The photographs taken during the journey follows.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
