in your ticket, other than 1 person remaining or in waitlist. the system tries to allocate all passengers near by, and thats why they didnt given the number. But in my case, i am a one pax. and they didnt given my number.

No, since 6 pm its showing like AVBL, so i moved to near by PRS while the IRCTC was down. then i got like this. i am expecting some useful information from the most senior members of this site.

Even if it shows as avlble it means that it was jumpd from WL status to AVLBL befre u booked d seat...say some of the cnfd tkts would hv been cancld so u got as cnfd seat...

Once the tickets get into WL.. they wont alot that particular cancelled seat to another WL tkt.. lot of permutations and reasons are there why this does not happen...

In the reservation system, when all the seats are exhausted it extends to WL. After that , if there are some cancellations then it becomes WL/Available. The WL 1 person would be having the ticket with status WL 1/ WL 1. If there are some cancellations then the next booking would be Conf / WL 2. The next booking may be WL 1 / WL 3 so on. The cancelled seat cannot be directly allotted to the next person as it has to be allotted to WL / WL 1 person, who has already got his printed his ticket and has left the counter. So all the cancellations after booking process entering the WL status can and are allocated only at the time of chart preparation.

The booking status had reached waiting list 9 for the next who booked. But because of cancellation, seats became available when you booked the ticket. As this availability is not the original status but only the current status, therefore the system treated the booking as if an wl ticket was getting booked. Therefore the berth no and coach will be made known only after the chart preparation.
