Blog Entry# 473012 Posted: Jul 04 2012 (6:46PM) 6 Responses Last Response: Jul 04 2012 (7:05PM) According to what criteria is a Train categorized under Super Fast? B'coz some trains especially on WR dosen't seem to be Super Fast at all! Eg. Train 2971 Bhavnagar Exp,2901 Gujarat Mail, 2921 Flying Ranee, 2935 Bandra Surat Intercity have an Average Speed 56-58 km / hr. I feel a Super Fast should have a minimum average Speed of atleast 66 km / hr. What can be done? Generally a train with speed more than 60KMPH is categorized into superfast as per railway rules. But that's not at all followed and cant define a superfast Any train having average speed of 55 kmph (at least), gets SF status and demands SF surcharge. Avg speed > 55 kmph = superfast ohh ok. I correct my words But by the way is this strict and followed for all trains or are there any exceptional cases? Then what is the average speed of Ordinary Express Trains? 45 km / hr ?? This seems to be too slow and needs Revised Rules for such Trains ??? This criterion should be modified now. It is 21st century. IR has gone through a lot of modernization in most areas in the past 2 decades. The definition of superfast should be changed to a more appropriate average speed (lets say 65 KMPH, while I actually feel it should be > 75KMPH). No doubt IR is doing a great job by providing transportation to millions of people every day at reasonable prices. But in terms of average speed of all types of trains, it must do some serious upgradation. |
