I shall narrate an incident which happened when 4 of us were returning from a conference in Lucknow 3 years ago. It is a long narration, so a lot of patience is needed. I had to change my train at Kalyan to catch the Chalukya Express and again change trains at Londa to catch the Amravati Express to Hospet. Connecting time difference at Kalyan was just under 3 and half hours and at Londa was just 15 minutes.
DAY 1:
We had booked in 3A of Pushpak express and left

hotel at 645pm, as it was just 2km from station. But we were caught in a huge traffic jam and could reach station only at 735pm. With 19 pieces of luggage and no porters in sight, we were thoroughly petrified. In what seemed like ages, after a few minutes, we sighted a porter, dumped our luggage and rushed to the platform. Our train Pushpak Express was stationed quite ahead of the platform, the SLR being atleast 5-6 bogies ahead from the end. Somehow, after a lot of huffing and puffing, we reached B1, transferred one luggage after another inside the coach with great speed, and within a minute, the train departed. We heaved a sigh of relief and started to fit in our 19 pieces of luggage. Our co passengers too had lot of luggage and thus we utilized every inch of available space, including on our berths. After a pack of Veg Pulav each from Kanpur Station, we settled in the upper berths for a game of cards, breaking for sleep only at 1am.

Thanks sir. At that time, we only had Trains at a glance or Indian Bradshaw, which was like an epic in itself. Nowadays, things have changed a lot, for the better.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
