Change of Boarding point, even when the quotas were different, was very much possible. I had changed my Boarding Point from one RL quota to another RL quota one month back. But dont know whether the rule is changed during last one month.

I have never tried for BP change, but heard from many co passengers for this particular train that BP change is not allowed. Do not have any idea beyond change in BP for me sir...

Sir, frankly speaking, I have enough travel experience in this particular train that, even during peak holidays like Diwali also (barring the month of May, summer rush), this train remains almost empty between Coimbatore- Bangalore. So absolutely nothing to worry that your seat may be given to someone else. This is my observation..

OK, me too have heard clerks in many PRS counters does not entertain BP change application, normally. You should request CRS in such a way that he feels that you are genuine about your BP change request and then only he will oblige you.
