express. The janshatabdi express aims at establishing fast connectivity between important cities/towns.
.
HISTORY:
The Dadar Madgaon shatabdi had its inaugural run on 16th of April 2002 and was run 6 days a week except the Sunday. The train used to depart at 05.25 from Dadar and used to arrive at Madgaon at 13.45. However after the Matsyagandha express accident the train was slowed down by 25 minutes and hence forth arrives at Madgaon at 14.10 except during monsoon season( 01 june to 31 Oct ). the train has a 20 min halt at MAO and then again starts its journey back to Mumbai arriving at 23.05 in the night. the train was briefly extended to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus for a short time and was again reverted back to Dadar. the train now runs on a daily basis.
.
DESCRIPTION:
The train is maintained by the Central Railway. The trains base station is Dadar Terminus. The train offers 2 classes of accomodation the 2nd Seating and the AC Chair car. The rake consists of 10 2nd sitting compartments and 1 AC chair car. The train is a hugely popular one since it is the fastest connection between Mumbai and Goa. The train is one of the first trains to hit WL and WL reaches 1000+ during festival seasons. The train averages around 66 kmph. One interesting thing is that this train is the fastest ICF train in the non full AC rake category and continously chugs at a whopping 120 kmph. The train passes through the Mumbai suburbs during the morning times.slowly the landscape changes to semi urban in the Panvel side and turns completely rural after ROHA. The train is the longest distance running janshatabdi exp covering the distance between Mumbai and Madgaon of 571 kms. The train passes through the Konkan coast which has Red laterite soil and the region is famous for its ALPHONSO mangoes and jackfruits which are endemic to only India and found nowhere else in the world. The train plies on the Western Ghats which is famous for its bio diversity and offers a scintillating view of the mountains and valleys. the route is exceptionally beautiful during monsoon. The train connects the Marathi and the Konkani speaking regions. the train crosses the rivers of Patalganga, Vasishti, Savitri, Zuari and Mandovi. The train is very much noted for its speed and aggressive timetable and all railfans wish to capture it in its full glory atleast once.
.
LOCO LINK:
The train was first hauled by KYN WDM3a and ERS WDMs during the inaugural run times. then later it was hauled by KJM Alcos and had loco sharing with the CSTM-SBC Udyan exp. The train also got EMD locomotives when the Udyan too started getting EMDs. Soon the links changed and for the past 6-8 years it is being hauled by WDM3a/ WDM3D from Erode shed. The train probably has a loco sharing arrangement with either Netravati exp or the CST-NCJ exp.
.
RSA:
The train shares the rakes with the DR-Aurangabad Janshatabdi exp.
the train that arrives from MAO at night stays at DR and departs as the AWB Js. the AWB which arrives at DR departs the next day as the MAO Js.
.
VERDICT:
if u are looking for fast and high speed action on IR alongwith a scenic view of the western ghats. This one is for u.......
.
RATINGS:
Speed: Outstanding 10/10
Comfort: Fair 7/10
Cleanliness: Average 5/10
Food: Average 4/10
Punctuality : Good but unreliable during monsoon 7/10
Total Score: 43/50

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
