#Operator(s): This train is operated and maintained by the Chennai based
Southern Railways(SR)
#Inaguration: This train made its inagural run on 7th August 1976.
*During that time it was numbered as 121/122 and ran as a tri-
weekly 13 coacher train.
*Later in 1982 during the Asian Games, this train was converted
into a weekly-four times running train and later it was made
daily.
*During itsearly years, this train used to share slots with Andhra
Pradesh Express and Karnataka-Kerala Express.
#Regions and states: This trains connects Chennai, Tamil Nadu with New
Delhi, the national capital of India.
*This train travels through the states, Tamil Nadu,
Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar
Pradesh and Delhi NCT.
*It has very few stops in each state en-route.
#Halts and Railway Zones: This tran passes through the Railway Zones,
Southern Railways(SR), South Central
Railways(SCR), Central Railways(CR), West Central
Railways(WCR), North Central Railways(NCR),
Northern Railways(NR).
*Having halts, SR-1, SCR-2, CR-2, WCR-2, NCR-3,
NR-2, total 10 halts between Chennai Central and
New Delhi.(terminals excluded)
#Languages: This train connects Tamil, Telgu, Maarathi, Hindi, Urdu speaking
regions.
#Speed: TN has is a very fast train and shows excellent speed.
#max 113 kmh between Bhopal and Agra Cantt, #min 60 kmh
between Nagpur and Itarsi.
#Travel time: This train covers a distance of 2181 kms in 33 hours with an
average speed of 66 kmh.
#Loco: This train is hauled by a WAP(Wode Gauge-AC-Passenger)-4
locomotive of Erode(ED) shed.
*During its early years it was hauled by a WDM-2 loco.
#Ratings: 1. Choice of people-Runs with a huge waiting list all over the year,
9/10.
2. Time management: Very reliable and punctual train but runs a
long distance, hence not always trustworthy,
8/10.
3. Speed- Excellent, 10/10
4. Cleanliless-Average, 6/10
